Typical Itineraries

The Serengeti National Park (see map) is arguably the best known wildlife sanctuary in the world. The word ‘serengeti’ means ‘endless plains’ in the Masai language. The park covers an area of 14,763 square kilometers reaching the Kenyan border and stretching almost to Lake Victoria. Serengeti provides us with one of the most unique and spectacular events known…the annual migration….where hundreds and thousands of wildebeest, zebra, and others, move together as seasons change, in search of water and fresh grazing grounds. As the herds move in the millions to these new grounds, they are followed by predators such as lions, cheetah, and hyenas. Crocodiles too can be seen feasting on wildebeest and zebra as the herds attempt to cross the often powerful rivers of the Serengeti.

And if this is not enough excitement…you can also enjoy Serengeti from the sky! We can arrange balloon safaris where you take off at dawn, rising as the sun rises, and floating to where the winds take you. Enjoy the changing colours of the Serengeti with the break of daylight and watch the wildlife from above as they awake to a new day. Your balloon safari ends with a fantastic champagne breakfast served in the bush, in ‘Out-of-Africa’ style with bone china, linen table cloths, king’s silver, and immaculate service.

Wildlife
Large herds of various antelope such as eland, dik dik, impala, waterbuck, topi, and wildebeest are to be seen in the plains. Mingling amongst such herds of antelope can be seen herds of zebra and buffalo too. Lion, hyena, leopard, and wild dogs are a few of the carnivores found here. The Serengeti is famously home to the world’s fastest land mammal…the cheetah. Vultures, storks, and fish eagles are among the 500 species of bird recorded here.
